Meet Amy B. Carroll – Artist at Out of the Blue Art Gallery
Amy Carroll’s first love is hand painted porcelain, an important part of Indiana history. She is proud to be the first porcelain artist juried into the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibit in 2011. In 2012 she won first place a the “Good Ole Summertime” New Harmony Hoosier Salon member exhibit. In 2015 her vase, “hollyhocks in Moonlight”, was awarded the Best Sculpture at the Hoosier Salon Annual Exhibit.
Her artistic skills translate to canvas. She creates small to large format acrylic on canvas works filled with brightly colored sunflowers, hydrangeas, roses and peonies. These beautiful canvases hang in the windows of Out of the Blue Studios on Main Street in Zionsville.
“I can’t imagine painting something that doesn’t come from my roots. By roots, I mean my feet being planted firmly on the soil of where I grew up in Missouri, to the murky bottom of Yellow Creek Lake in northern Indiana, where I spent my childhood summers, to the black-topped roads of my current home in Speedway, Indiana. These are the places which inspire me to pick up a brush and share them with everyone else.”
Inspirations
For Amy, painting is a journey through memory—a way to preserve and honor the landscapes and moments that shaped her. Her work is deeply inspired by her roots, capturing scenes from the woodlands of Missouri where she grew up, the summers spent along the shores of Yellow Creek Lake, and the winding roads of Speedway, Indiana, that she calls home today. Each brushstroke becomes a connection to these places, telling stories that feel both personal and universal.
Amy blends tradition with personal history, bringing to life scenes that resonate with those who appreciate the quiet beauty of familiar landscapes. Her work invites viewers to experience these cherished places through her eyes, evoking a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and timelessness. With every piece, Amy hopes to inspire others to look at the world around them through a softer, more colorful lens—one that values memory and the landscapes that feel like home.
